Xbox Accidentally Gives Forza Horizon Bundle a 99% Discount

A European division of Xbox discounted a fairly costly Forza Horizon bundle by a whopping 99% earlier today. The move was apparently made in error, given the fact that the massive deal on the series’ Premium Editions Bundle—consisting of the most expensive versions of Forza Horizon 4 and Forza Horizon 5—was pulled within hours of going live.

The Forza Horizon Premium Editions Bundle debuted only recently as an Xbox Games Store exclusive, arriving about a year after Forza Horizon 5 released to critical acclaim and fan adoration. While the Premium Editions of FH4 and FH5 regularly retail at $99.99 each, the bundle itself is currently available at $79.99, or 60% off, as part of a global sale that Xbox is running until the end of the month.

The apparently erroneous listing was removed in less than three hours, and it is unclear how many people managed to act on it. But the chances that Xbox reverts their transactions are effectively non-existent, at least within the European Union, whose strong consumer protection laws force digital retailers to honor all listed prices, intended or otherwise. Mishaps such as this one also aren’t too uncommon in the gaming industry or online retail, on the whole. E.G., it was only a few months ago that some fans with a great sense of timing were able to pre-order FIFA 23 for just over a nickel.

Even this comparatively measly 60% discount represents a good opportunity for racing fans to get their hands on the last two Forza Horizon installments, if they haven’t done so already. Doubly so since Forza Horizon 4 might eventually be delisted from digital storefronts.

But the series itself has a bright future ahead of it, not least because studio Playground Games is currently wrapping up work on the second major FH5 expansion, expected to release in early 2023. What’s more, a report from earlier this year suggested that the company has already started development on Forza Horizon 6.

Forza Horizon 4 and Forza Horizon 5 are available on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
